Lantern Festival Celebration


In conjunction with the Lantern Festival, Ti-Ratana Lumbini Garden will be having a celebration :


Date :  29th September 2012 (Saturday)

Program :
8.00pm  :  Lighting of Lanterns & Lantern Procession 
8.30pm  :  Puja followed by blessing service
9.00pm  :  Colouring and Drawing Competition
9.30pm  :  Light Refreshments for devotees


The Colouring and Drawing contest is open to all Sunday School children. Please bring your own colour pencils.
 
Children are encouraged to bring their lanterns to this celebration.

Prizes will be awarded to top 3 winners of each categories, namely best creative lantern, colouring and drawings.

Speaker's Profile
Bro Mun Yee began learning Buddhism during his secondary school days at St John's Institution's Buddhist Society.He participated in Buddhist camps during his teenage years at Buddhist Maha Vihara Kuala Lumpur and was involved as    a core member of Dhammaduta Youth (D2Y) which he still guides till today.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication, Advertising Major and established a University Buddhist Group, whilst studying in Australia.

Bro Mun Yee is a representative of Sasanarakha Buddhist Sanctuary, a monastic training facility in Taiping, Perak and Buddhist Gem Fellowship.  He continues to share dhamma with youths and young adults in local camps, schools, colleges and universities such as UCSI, MMU, IMU & Monash.

Besides his active participation in dhammaduta work, his interest includes arts, calligraphy, design and culture.  He    gave up     his corporate career in 2005 to pursue his passion and business as a floral designer and currently manages Sukhi Hotu, a Buddhist bookshop in Petaling Jaya, Selangor
.

Speaker's Profile
Ven Panamwela Wajirabuddhi was born in Sri Lanka in the Matara District. He was ordained as a novice monk in 1980 at the Dharmaduthashrama Vidyala, Colombo 09 under the guidance of late Venerable Dr. P. Pangnananda Nayaka Maha Thera, Venerable Wehelle Sri Attadassi Dhammapala Nayaka Maha Thera, & the late Venerable M. Sumangala Maha Thera the Principal of Dharmadutashrama Vidyala Colombo. His higher ordination took place at Malwathu Maha Vihara, Kandy, Sri Lanka in 1987. He completed his monastic education at Dharmaduthashrama College, and did his higher education at,Bhikkhu University Anuradhapura, and obtained “Thripitakavedi” degree. He stayed in Thailand nearly 10 months, at Wat Srakete. Then, in 1994, he came to United States of America, and stayed with the Cambodian community in Los Angeles. Ven. Cong Sophan Rakkitha Dhammo was the head of Wat Khemer Jothi Nano Chun Nath, under whose guidance he learned Cambodian culture and language. In 1999 Ven. P. Wajirabuddhi moved to Atlanta, Georgia and in June 2000 established the Georgia Buddhist Vihara.

He has completed Vipassana and Jana Bhavana retreat under Ven Dr. Henepola Gunarathana Maha Thera at Bhavana Society, West Virginia USA. He received his English Diploma from Interactive college of Technology in USA.

He conducts monthly meditation Silence retreat, weekly Vipassana Meditation, visits colleges teaching introduction to Buddhism, Mindful Session in Federal Prison once a month and conducts Annual Youth Retreat.

Ven P Wajirabuddhi is in Malaysia for a short Dhamma tour at the kind invitation of Ven B Sri Saranankara Nayaka Maha Thera.

It will be a Dhamma sharing discussion based on the book "What Would Buddha Do at Work" authored by Franz Metcalf & BJ Gllagher Hateley to utilise the gentle teachings of Buddha to discover a deeper meaning in work. .

  • dealing with a difficult boss
  • serving customers
  • facilitating teamwork
  • hiring the right people
  • providing effective leadership
  • coping with constant change

Speaker's Profile
Mitra Chong has 20 years of experience as the head of Learning & Development unit in several local and multinational companies. He has coached and trained thousands of employees in the areas of personal effectiveness and management skills. He was one of the pioneers who introduced experiential learning to Buddhist students and youth in Malaysia. He contributes his expertise in training and development to various Buddhist organizations by conducting camps and talks during his free time.

He holds a Masters degree in Training and Human Resource Management from the University of Leicester, UK. He is currently an Assistant Vice President in an multi-national insurance company and head of the Talent Management/Learning and Development department. He is married and has two young children.
