Pilgrimage Tour to Siem Reap, Cambodia, with Rev. Visuddhi, 26-29 November 2014

Dear Brothers and Sisters of the Dhamma,

We are organising the above pilgrimage tour to Siem Reap, Cambodia with Rev. Visuddhi from 26th-29th November 2014.

Details as below:

ITINERARY
Day 1: Siem Reap Arrival
Upon arrival, meet and transfer to hotel for check in (Early check-in is NOT included and subject to hotel’s availability). Siem Reap Orientation visit local main shrine of Preah Ang Chheck/Chhom temple and local pagodas with Monk Blessing in Siem Reap Town (Wat Damnak Pagoda is one of the most beautiful pagodas in town with French colonial architecture reflecting its history and a large garden filled with statues. Bring candles and incense sticks to the pagoda and participate in a private good luck blessing ceremony, performed by local monks that reside at the temple. Sit on the mat while the monks chant blessings and sprinkle holy water on you – a traditional way which is believed pass on the good luck of the gods. Afterwards, a sacred thread will be tied around your wrist. This will protect you from any evil spirits or accidents. Before you continue on your journey, you will receive a small keepsake from the monks to remind you of this special moment). Lunch at local restaurant and afternoon we will be transferred to Tonle Sap Lake where we will embark on local boat to cruise to floating village of Mechrey and on the way back visit to Krobie Real Village. Welcome dinner in town
Meals included: Lunch and dinner
Accommodation: Hotel in Siem Reap

Day 2: Siem Reap – Angkor Highlighted temples
After breakfast, early morning visit the picturesque Ta Prohm that had nearly disappeared into the jungle and remains overgrown, an oddly haunting and exotic scene. The magnificent roots of a tree, pushing between the huge stone blocks of the temple in a sort of embrace, evoke feelings that you may remember forever. And continue to visit the intricately carved Khmer ruins at Angkor Wat - one of the world’s most impressive ruins. The temple still owns fine Apsara carvings in Angkorian era art. And continue exploring the mysterious Royal city Angkor Thom. City & Bayon Its 54-tower temple is an awesome sight. At first glance it seems a shapeless mass of stone, but further scrutiny reveals a face, and then another and another until suddenly you are engulfed by the silent, heavy, enigmatic and silent gaze through half-closed eyes, staring out from a primitive and remote time. Further, visit to the surroundings of the complex including the Baphou, Elephant Terraces, Lepper King Terrace and Royal Place area and visit one more ruin in Angkor Area of Preah Khan temple, built in 12th century by King Jayavarman VII and it is the same style to Ta Prom Temple.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Accommodation: Hotel in Siem Reap

Day 3: Siem Reap – Remote temple of Beng Melea & Meditation
After breakfast at the hotel. Heading out of the town for 1 hour driving (60km) to visit the spectacular ruins of Beng Mealea, which was constructed by King Suryavarman II (1113-1150). It preceded and may have served as a prototype of sorts for Angkor Wat. Contrary to Angkor, few carvings or bas-reliefs are evident. Today the temple is largely overrun by vegetation and the stone walls are crumbling which adds to its charm in a unique way. Return to Siem Reap town for lunch and after lunch we will stroll around the down town or swimming pool until 4pm transfer to Budi Tree Center where we will have a 1-hour meditation. Dinner at local restaurant
